Verminator can provide on-going advice on how to reduce or eliminate any breeding by identifying existing and potential breeding sites.
Larval inspections are conducted by our trained Specialists capable of identifying instar stages of mosquitoes and distinguishing among various genera.
Larvicidal treatments will be carried out at water collecting receptacles and/or water surfaces and stagnant water collections where mosquito breeding is occurring or would occur. Sand granules will also be applied at areas when the turnover of water is poor eg. water cisterns, gulley traps, manholes etc. In addition, the external compound will be thermal fogged or mist fumigated to knock down and kill adult mosquitoes.
RECOMMENDED ALTERNATIVE CONTROL using BTI (Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis)
We also offer environmentally friendly treatments targeted at larvae in free water areas e.g. ponds. Biological control through the use of Bti can be carried out at all areas to quickly reduce mosquito breeding population. The Bti that we use for mosquito control has been approved and strongly recommended by World Health Organisation Pesticide Evaluation Schemes (WHOPES). Bti treatments affect the growth hormones of the mosquito larvae and are very target specific.
There are many alternatives in managing your property when it comes to dealing with termites and other timber pests. The very first thing you need to establish is whether your property is affected by any termites, woodborers and/or timber decay problems.
How can this be done?
Verminator offers a range of options that may be applicable to your property:
1) Timber Pest Inspection
This is always the first essential step to assess whether there is visual evidence of termites and other timber pests, and what needs to be done to effectively manage your property.
Termite inspection is a specialist task requiring special skills so it is best to engage a trained Specialist. The termite inspection covers:
- Readily accessible internal and external areas of your property structure(s).
- Assessment of the external areas or the boundary line of your property.
- Careful inspection of termite-prone areas.
Our trained Technicians will perform the inspection using industry-best equipment such as Termatrac (a movement detection device based on microwave technology) and CO2 Termite Detector (infrared optics with a lifetime sensor that detects the extremely small amounts of gases put off by termites). The termite inspection process typically takes one to two hours depending on the size and nature of your property.
A Report containing an accurate snapshot of your property’s termite exposure and/or damage status will be provided. Whether or not termites are found on your property during the inspection, Verminator will discuss and advise what is required for effective termite control, wood decay management or woodborer control.
2) Localised Treatment
If termites are present, it is necessary to carry out treatment to eliminate the active termites in the premises. This can be done by direct termiticide dust application into the active termite trails. A follow-up visit will be scheduled a week later and treatments will continue until all infestations are totally eliminated.
3) Monitoring and Baiting
X’Term Termite Baiting System
We offer a comprehensive baiting program that seeks to maintain a termite-free condition on your property through on-going inspection, monitoring and re-baiting as needed. This option involves the placing of ‘monitoring’ or ‘bait’ stations in the ground and/or structure at strategic positions to detect and control termite activity. Termite baiting system capitalises on the natural behaviour of termites. As social insects, termites share their food in a process known as trophallaxis. They are attracted to a readily accessible feeding station containing a suitable bait matrix. With baits, small amounts of material are deployed like edible “smart missiles” to knock out populations of termites foraging in and around the structure. Foraging termites consume the bait and share it with their nest mates, resulting in a gradual decline in termite numbers.
An Integrated Pest Management strategy is necessary for rodent control. Our programs are designed to reduce rodent populations without harming other non-target species.
Inspection will be conducted to identify areas of rodents’ activities and harbourages. Our control measure involves the use of baits secured in tamper resistant stations, cages and glue boards placed in and around the entire periphery of the property/premise. Baiting by means of weather-resistance baits is carried out when necessary and if feasible. This is to prevent rodent infestation from external sources.
Burrows found within the vicinity of the premises will be treated and destroyed. We will undertake to remove any dead rats or trapped rodents during our treatment. Whenever the rodents are removed, we will treat the areas with disinfectant or deodorizing agent. When necessary, further visits will be made to ensure maximum effectiveness at seven (7) to ten (10) days interval.
Our service involves spraying of all skirtings, potential breeding spots and harbourage areas with our insecticide mixture. The areas of treatment will be concentrated at the sewerage as they are the main source of cockroach infestation. A good housekeeping and hygiene programme is essential to discourage cockroach infestation. All food scraps are to be removed, crack and crevices in kitchens should also be sealed and to minimize storage and rubbish around external areas.
The control programme will include direct spray treatment of highly effective insecticidal mixtures and complemented with the application of ant gel at potential breeding spots and harbourage areas within the immediate compound.
Our control measures involve the use of thermal fogging (for external) and mist fumigation (for internal) for the control of flies. This will be followed by the residual spraying at all potential breeding spots. Fly bait stations, if necessary, will be placed at strategic areas to complement the treatment.
Our specially formulated chemical spray is designed to flush house lizards from their hiding places and eliminate them. This is supplemented by traps which will trap the house lizards to minimize lizard infestation. House lizards are territorial reptiles and it is usual to experience re-infestation of lizards in a short while. The objective of control is to reduce level of infestation to a tolerable minimum.
During our routine inspection we will check all surrounding and possible harbourage areas for snake activities. Upon evidence of harbourage area, snake repellents can be applied at potential entry points. Some methods to prevent snakes from entering your home or property:
- Remove debris in the garden and around property.
- Trim dense shrubs/vegetation and prune trees to prevent overhanging your roof and/or building.
- Elevate building materials and firewood from the ground.
- Fill up holes in the ground and seal cracks and crevices.
- Seal windows and drain holes with wire mesh.
- Dispose rubbish properly to keep rodents away.
Bed bugs are blood sucking insects that hide in cracks and crevices close to their host which is commonly humans along with household pets. The female in her lifetime may lay 2 to 500 eggs which usually hatch within 7 to 30 days depending on climatic conditions.
Control of bed bugs is best achieved by following an integrated pest management (IPM) approach that involves preventive measures, sanitation, and chemicals applied to targeted sites.
Our Technician will do a thorough inspection of the premises to locate bed bugs and their harbourage sites so that cleaning efforts together with steam and insecticide treatments can be focused. Inspection efforts will concentrate on the mattress, box springs, and bed frame, as well as crack and crevices that the bed bugs may hide in during the day or when digesting a blood meal.
Our treatment involves the use of CIMEX ERADICATOR (using superheated steam technology) which eliminates 100% of the eggs and a very high proportion of the mobile insects with a single treatment. Within a few seconds of exposure to the flow of steam from Cimex Eradicator, the adults and larvae, as well as eggs are killed. There are potentially no toxic substances released to the environment. Moreover, it is sanitizing. As well as killing bedbugs, it eliminates bacteria, fungi and dust mites from the surfaces treated.
Wasps and Bees
To treat, a fast-acting killing insecticide will be applied to quickly kill all workers present on the nest/hive. These generally contain approved and safe insecticide for fast knockdown. Some of these insecticides can be applied via use of a long pole, where the sprayer nozzle can be positioned at the top of the pole and activated by use of a pressure spray. After the colony has been killed with the initial insecticide application, the hive will be removed and disposed of, if feasible.
Hornets are active outside their nest mostly during the day. During the evening the entire colony will be back to the nest. It is, therefore, recommended that the removal be carried out in the latter part of the evening. Treatment by gasing or insecticide can be applied directly to the entrance of the nest provided the environment permits. If the environment does not permit residual insecticide spraying, then the hive will be burned with care.
